I have never paid attention to automotive air freshener brands. I just take whatever I’m given. However, a friend got me using a plug in Scentsy in my room and I admit I would buy a travel tin without smelling it first.
We know Mercedes has an air freshener lineup now. Would you buy any of those off the shelf if given the opportunity? How about a Meadows of Mitsubishi fragrance? Ferrari’s Essence of Enzo? Ford Fiesta Funk? Elon’s Musk?
Let’s start making some scents on here!

“Volkswagen Diesel Emission scented.”

No chance. It’d smell nice for a few days and then cease to work (only lasting a quarter of the average air freshner life span). All while costing hundreds to maintain.
Side note: Vanillarama is my go to.

Oh you mean, “Mommy I Can’t Breath.” I’m sorry but we are sold out of that scent. It was surprisingly popular!

How about, “Bacon on the exhaust manifold” ?

I can interest you in “Grand CaraVanilla by Dodge?” Wait, where are you going?!

I think Ram owners just call that scent a running engine.

I use Yankee Candle vent sticks. They are amazing and I love the vanilla scented one.
I’m very wary about scents in the car. I’ve seen what can happen when one of the liquid ones falls.
I know a woman who had been bought a brand new Range Rover and her scented air freshner had come loose in the heat of the day and rolled down from the dash and upturned onto the centre console. A couple of thousand pounds worth of damage to a six week old Range Rover.
Even the trees can damage the cars interior trim if it falls from the rear view mirror or comes in contact with some interior trim.

Elon’s Musk.
And no.

I think this is why the travel tin variants are becoming popular. That and the underseat little squares (which I don’t like). Vent sticks are great, but travel tins last so long you start to become paranoid the smell is on you (which is good or bad depending on your usual smell).

How about something like Tesla’s “Silent but Running?” Sorry, I’ll leave you alone now.

I was asked what I could do to help with the Range Rover in the mean time and basically unless you intend having the damage repaired by removing the piece, all you can do is wait two weeks for the solvent to evaporate and try your hardest not to touch the area in the meantime (as it softens the plastic and is easy to deform), wiat till it hardens, use a filler and then vinyl wrap the area if possible till you can afford to have the damage fixed.
Ye’, I do sometimes get a little paranoid that the smell is getting onto me.
I mean I’m a modern bloke but a fat, bald, goatied 36 year old smelling of vanilla isn’t great.
When you stop smelling it is the time to change the scent as you become ‘nose blind’ in that you become so used to the smell, you stop smelling it.

This is one of the craziest things I’ve seen. I haven’t used an air freshener in my car yet do you suggest these Yankee sticks as the best? Are there any other options you recommend?

Honestly the liquid in these things is horrific to interior plastics regardless of type of plastic.
I like the Yankee Candle air vent sticks as they are in obtrusive in that they don’t swing about in your field of vision and the main part of the air freshner can be orientated to suit the angle of the air vent so it is square on with the surface to satisfy any OCD urges. They also last quite well.
Generally stay away from liquid types where the casing can be damaged or liquid is able to escape if knocked over. If using a tree of scented card or what ever make sure it doesn’t come into contact with any surface.
The liquid ones that attach to the vent may seem like a good idea as they’d last longer but are actually quite heavy for the plastic slat they will be attached to and will either drop off or worse, break the slat off from the vent.
